News 03/15/2002 : Corky's Ribs and Barbeque Signs Its First Lease in North Carolina  Corky’s Ribs and BBQ, a Memphis based restaurant chain will be bringing its award winning ribs to the Triad. Kotis Real Estate Services (CIRB Carolinas Member), who represents Corky’s throughout North and South Carolina, reported Tuesday that terms had been met for Corky’s to lease approximately 5,500 square feet at Hanes Commons on Hanes Mall Boulevard in Winston-Salem. “The site was a no-brainer,” states Marty Kotis from KRES. “Great demographics, all the retail in the world, and great access to I-40.” It is perhaps for this reason that many restaurants were looking in the area. “Four or five other restaurants wanted to be there [Hanes Commons] badly,” recalls Jeff Nimmer of KRES. “The landlord went with Corky’s because it’s an exciting concept with a great operator. It was a wise choice.” Corky’s plans to open another 4 locations in the next few years, focusing on markets such as Raleigh, Greensboro, and Wilmington. “We’re very excited to be working with Corky’s,” mentions Kotis. “Its great to work for a restaurant that everyone gets excited about. It makes our job a little easier.” Corky’s looks to be open by June, and plans to offer extensive catering options in addition to its sit-down service.
